AI Improving Marketing Efficiency and Bringing Cost Savings
Artificial intelligence is reshaping everyday marketing functions. As digital marketing continues to evolve, AI transforms how marketing tasks are completed and who completes them. The popularity of using AI tools in marketing is driven by two major advantages: efficiency and cost savings.
The fast adoption of AI in marketing operations has enabled time savings and improved efficiency, as AI can complete certain marketing routine tasks much faster than marketers. The efficiency enables cost savings as fewer marketers are needed to do the same work. As a result of this, we have seen significant shifts in the job market and some marketers losing their jobs, especially in areas where marketing automation is available (Haritha & Resham, 2023).
For many businesses, this means achieving more with fewer resources. Tasks that once required entire teams, can now be handled by AI-powered tools and automation systems. As a result, some traditional marketing roles are being reduced or replaced, especially in areas where processes can be automated.
AI Enhancing Data-Driven Marketing
AI has transformed data-driven marketing, making it more agile, targeted and customer-focused. By analysing consumers’ online behaviour, AI can segment audiences, predict purchase patterns and create personalised ads to match the consumers’ interests (Pandit et al., 2024). For example, AI can be used to predict what the customer might purchase, target advertisements to them, and take a consumer through the whole marketing funnel. This example demonstrates how AI can complete marketing tasks more effectively and efficiently than humans
Predictive analytics has become a powerful tool in marketing. It opens the way for businesses to analyse data from the past, identify patterns, predict trends, and form customer groups, which enables marketing strategy development, personal targeting to increase customers’ loyalty and encourage repurchase (Pandit et al., 2024).
Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity have further accelerated AI’s role in marketing operations. These AI applications are cost-effective, reducing expenses related to hiring staff by performing tasks such as SEO, marketing research, content creation, data analysis, marketing campaign planning, and strategy creation.
What AI Adoption Means for Businesses
Companies that embrace AI-driven marketing can benefit from cost reductions, faster decision-making, improved targeting and more personalised customer experiences. However, businesses must also train their marketing teams and their skillsets to make the most of these tools.
Adopting AI in marketing operations is not just about replacing human work and being more efficient. It’s about humans utilising the AI tools for efficiency, creating better customer experiences, and enabling cost savings along the wayhe way. AI tools can’t do the job on their own without humans overseeing the processes and ensuring the quality of the work produced by AI. A human touch and subject matter expertise are always needed to ensure that the work produced by AI tools is on the right track, as it can easily take a wrong turn and get lost in the woods.
